- My
2001 Ford Mustang BULLITT GT, is one
of only
- 723
produced in True Blue.
-
- I
found my BULLITT, number
#4576, in West Palm Beach, Florida and
shipped it back to the UK.
- I
have had to make several modifications to
the lights in order to drive it in the
UK.
My modifications
Page one lists the modification
made to the car just to drive in the UK
Page two lists modifications for
fun, performance or just looks. For page 2 Click here.
#4576 in
Florida
- Below - I had to
fit side repeat turn signals on the front
wings (fenders) I chose to fit these
above the GT badge.
- Required by law in
the UK.
Would
I change anything? Yes, If I had known there was
a great big hole behind the GT badge, then that
is where these lights would have gone in place of
the GT badge.
We have to have
amber turn signals on the rear. Cobra
back lights were fitted to achive this.
The alternative is to fit amber bulbs in
the reversing lights (or back up lights)
and then fit a separate white reversing
light with matching red fog light but I
don't like that look when there is a
factory alternative that looks this good.
- We cannot have red
turn signals in the UK
-
White 5 watt side lights
or front position marker lights (like
DRL)
- have to be fitted
to the front and the feed to the factory
amber lights had to be cut.
- Not just any light
will do it must be 'E' marked and
approved for use in Europe.
- The small light
shown was a temporary measure for the
test then when I got brave I drilled the
back of the factory headlights and put a
small 5 watt bulb and holder in there.
This looks nearly factory fitted.
- I now have Factory
Ford fog lamps instead and the 5 watt
light is included in the main headlight.
-
- - Red rear fog
light 21 watts, can be mounted in the
middle. This was stuck on after the test
- You can see I had
another one on for test day. This bright
rear red light is used in fog or falling
snow.
- All cars in the UK
have to have one or two fitted since
about 1984.
- I have wished I
have had one several times in the USA, in
real heavy rain on an interstate they cut
through the bad weather.
- All these lights
are checked and tested every year here in
the UK.
- Below - Switch for
rear fog lamp.
- I cut this old Ford
switch into the coin holder. I now have a
factory 2001switch, so I can swop this
when I get around to it.

- Left - 2001 Mustang
front fog light switch now used for my
rear fog light.
- Right - Factory
front fog light switch used for my
factory Ford front fog lights.
-
- My True Blue
Bullitt went straight through the UK SVA
(Single vehicle type approval) test.
- This is for
vehicles that are imported into the UK
that were never intended for use in
Europe.
- This makes sure
they comply with our strict laws on,
lighting, emissions, noise brakes and
safety in general.

- During the week
there is a line of trucks at each door
here but this was an expensive UK rip off
- out of hours test
for SVA only. They claim to be all backed
up but if you pay 400 + Dollars thet can
fit you in anytime?
-
- - Part of the
extensive brake test. Car was doing 70
mph here and the speedo is also checked
for accurary.
- Tyres are checked
for condition, road use compliance, tread
and speed rating.

That was all
the electrical mods to get it tested so I can
drive it here in the UK.

other mods for fun, performance and looks,
